The primary function of the Tax Collector's office is to collect and process payments received from real estate, personal property and motor vehicle excise tax bills.

Tax Bill Information

Real Estate tax bills are issued on a semi-annual basis. Each bill is due 30 days from the date of mailing. At this time we offer a 3% discount for real estate bills if the total annual payment is paid within the 30 day period of the October 1st bill being issued.

October 1  -  first half bills issued
November 1  -  first half bills due; deadline for 3% discount payments
April 1  -  second half reminder issued
May 1  -  second half bills due

Personal Property Tax
Personal Property tax bills are issued following the same schedule as the real estate tax bills. There is no 3% discount offered for personal property tax. If you are a business owner in the town you should contact the Assessor's office to fill out a Form of List by March 1st.

Motor Vehicle Excise Tax
Motor Vehicle excise tax bills are issued on various dates during the calendar year and are also due 30 days from the date of mailing of the bill. If you have a vehicle registered for the full calendar year preceding you should receive your excise bill in the month of February. If you have transferred plates or registered a vehicle during the year your bill may be delayed until a later date in the year.
