Did you know that you need a building permit to build a shed, a deck, a pool or hot tub, finishing off the basement, re-roofing your home? Just to name a few.

These are just a few of the items that require a building permit. Call us to see if the project that you are planning requires a building permit. Remember, that our purpose here is to ensure your safety and that of the public. Our inspection service is to ensure that it is constructed properly and ensures the safety to you and your family and to those who visit.

We are also the department that has the zoning and flood maps for your questions and review.

Inspections

Plumbing/Gas

Here is a list of some of the items that require Plumbing & Gas permits: 1.p. storage tank, back flow preventers, water heaters, new plumbing and or gas fixtures, remodeling of plumbing, just to name a few.

To set up inspections or to speak with the inspector, call between 8 and 9 am.


Wiring

Here is a list of some items that require electrical permits: swimming pools, furnaces, alarm systems, new service, temp. service, remodling, major appliances, electric heat, signs, just to name a few.

To set up inspections with the inspector, call anytime. To speak with the inspector, leave your name, number and a brief message, and the inspector with return your call.


Building

Here is a list of some of the items that require building permits: shed, wood stove, decks, remodeling/renovations, vinal siding, roofing, additions, finishing basement area, swiming pools, carports, barns, windows, demolition, just to name a few.

Call between 8 and 10 am in the morning and 1 to 2 in the afternoon to speak with the Building Commissioner. The secretary is in the office and will take all messages if the Building Commissioner is out on inspections. Inspections should be called in a day ahead to ensure that there would be no scheduling conflicts.


Permit Fees

To ensure that the proper fees are paid, you should contact the office for the most current schedule. Remember, work done without a permit shall result in doubling of the fee. *Fees are subject to change
